It was around mid-night we got a call for O- blood plateletes to be arranged urgently at a hospital near Ghaziabad. When the Selfless Service Society (http://www.selflessservice.org/) approached Mr. Gaurav Saxena, who resides in Gurgaon, without even thinking twice he agreed to start immediately for the donation. For your information the distance between Gurgaon and Ghaziabad is approx. 50+ km. Though the need was fulfilled by the nearby donor. The passion Mr. Gaurav Saxena showed to selflessly serve the needy during emergency without even looking at the watch. It is really inspiring for one and all.

Selfless Service Society has been formed to unite the willing blood donors across India through the website www.SelflessService.org, so as to eliminate the scarcity of blood forever.

Blood is the most precious gift that anyone can give to another person — the gift of life. A decision to donate your blood can save a life or even several if your blood is separated into its components i.e. red cells, platelets and plasma — which can be used individually for patients with specific conditions.


There is a constant need for regular blood supply because blood can be stored for only a limited time before use. Regular blood donations by a sufficient number of healthy people are needed to ensure that safe blood will be available whenever and wherever it is needed.
