Rejoice Voluntary Blood Donation Day & Free Medical Camp

The  camp for "Rejoice Voluntary Blood Donation Day & Free Medical Camp" started at around 9 am in the morning on Sunday,25th September '16 in the Rajeev colony of Faridabad. There has been an amazing response by residents of Rajeev colony. The residents were requested to take the tokens from the volunteers and wait for their turn to avail the services provided in the camp. The camp became more busy after half hour of its start when more residents spread the news in word of mouth and were ready to attend the camp.90+ residents were privileged to take up the service provided by the S3 team. The camp had the following objectives for the day's activity.

1:Monitoring the blood pressure and blood sugar level of the residents of the colony

For residents above 20 years of age upto 45, the random blood glucose level was monitored using the glucometer and blood pressures were checked using the digital gadget. For those residents whose random blood glucose were on the higher side ,suggestions were given such as visiting the nearby ALL INDIA INSTITUTE OF AYURVEDIC SCIENCES,Gauthampuri,Aali village,New Delhi. In that hospital the consultations ,medicines and treatment were given free of cost to the needy. Oral suggestions of dietary restrictions such as the foods to be avoided like the direct sugars, sweets were also provided by the volunteers. The blood pressure or the BP of the residents were also monitored by the S3 team members. Those who had values below normal were advised a high sodium diet and for those people whose BP were high, suggestions like avoiding sodium rich foods in the diet were given.

2:Checking the body weight

This activity  is one of its kind of regularly checking the body mass of people and informing them of their body weight. Patients below and above the normal weight were advised about food habits & exercise.

3:Identifying the blood group of residents between the age group of 18 to 40 years -"Small drops make an ocean" The S3 Team was able to identify the willing donors among the residents of this colony whose blood groups like O+ve,AB +ve,B+ve,O-ve were identified. We even witnessed 1 AB- (the rarest of all group. Less than 1% population has it). The importance of blood donation during emergencies and the need for the donors within the same colony so that there is no scarcity of blood were shared by the volunteers.

4:Issuing of the "Voluntary blood donors ID card" for all those whose blood groups were identified.- This activity was done to ensure that the willing blood donors can register as a volunteer for donation in times of needs and emergencies. Most of the young eligible donors also agreed to volunteer to donate blood during emergency. They also consented to register themselves as voluntary blood donors with Selfless Service Society. Couple of them were enthused to serve "Selflessly".

5 : Continuted the "Fight Against Denue and Chikungunya"

Covered both Rajeev Colony & Santosh Nagar. Two members of S3 ensured that both these colonies are covered within 2-3 hours. Couple of patients who turned up compalined about body pain, there were given advise by the All India Insitute of Ayurveda team. The entire locality has around 500-1000 residents, with this the fight against Dengue and Chikungunya campaign has helped 6000 residents so far.
